October 2006: Tour of Cadbury Schweppes plant in Aspers, PA 

The Cadbury Schweppes plant in Aspers PA hosted our October IIE event. It was very interesting touring the production of Motts Applesauce, Nantucket grape juice and Mott’s apple juice in addition to their training facilities. The plant was so big that it was difficult to see everything in the limited time we had. The evening ended with a raffling of Cadbury Schweppes gift baskets for all those who submitted improvement ideas. The event was attended by 20 IIE members, 6 students and 16 members from the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AICHEM) and the Institute of Packaging Professionals (IoPP).  The Aspers, PA plant (located half way between Carlisle and Gettysburg on Route 34) produces 50 million cases of Mott's apple products, Hawaiian Punch, Snapple, Nantucket Nectars and several other brands in various sizes and flavors. They have some state of the art systems including robotics and aseptic automated filling systems. They also have an on-site distribution center that warehouses over 2 million cases and can ship over 300 trucks per day.

September 2006: Fellowship Night
The IIE Chapter kicked off to an excellent year with Initiation night on 9/20/06. We had 17 members, 4 students, and 3 guests witness the induction of the new officers for the 2006-2007 year. After the induction, performed by our outgoing President Marisa Arvesu, the fun began with the raffling of prizes. As usual, there were plenty to go around.
