this program since 2003 with many repeat school visits.
October 2006 IoPP Central Penn October 2006 Newsletter September 2006 APICS Central Penn September 2006 Newsletter Volunteer opportunity advertised by Community Outreach Director Volunteers,John McCormick and I attended a meeting with the Harrisburg School District to discuss their GEARUP tutoring program on Monday, August 28. The Harrisburg School District provides tutoring to students in grades 7 through 12. The program is funded by a College and Career Awareness Grant that provides an hourly wage of $20 to tutors. Volunteers are also welcome, and they have a few of these people returning for the upcoming school year. All tutoring will be conducted within the school walls. Most of the tutoring will be conducted during school hours. Some after school tutoring may be needed – anticipated hours 3pm to 4pm. Tutoring is expected to begin in October. After contacting Sandra, clearance forms can be filled out, and a provided physician will perform a TB test. Additionally, college transcripts will be necessary – unofficial transcripts are fine. August 2006 The Lancaster-Harrisburg Chapter has recently become a member of Central Pennsylvania Engineers Week Council (CPEWC). Through their educational outreach program, CPEWC reaches out to local schools and provides volunteers to speak about math, science, and their engineering careers.
